Poppy

-22. Poppy

The Poppy card represents opportunism, greed, vanity, corruption, and ruthless ambition. It is the person willing to lie, cheat, and steal in order to achieve fame and fortune. It is the parasite that attaches to others for social status or financial gain. In the card, we see a girl extending poppies to the man on the horse. The poppies signify addiction. Just as one can become hooked on opiates, it is possible to become hooked on the superficial benefits of wealth. Those who dare to partake of opiate lose touch with truth and remain gripped with material gain. If the Poppy has visited you today, ask yourself if you have sacrificed your honor in exchange for a job, relationship, or pursuit. Perhaps you are being alerted to the danger of lurking parasites that seek to take advantage of you. Or, possibly, you are addicted to status, power, money, greed, or selfish pursuits. If enough is never enough, you have an addiction.
